The Old Elm venue is a little hidden gem here in Colorado. It has great mountain views and is much easier for out of town guests to get to than most of the mountain wedding venues here in Colorado. The one downside is the lack of parking at the venue. Makenna and Craig combated that by having the guests carpool and take a shuttle from the hotel.
The staff at the venue are very warm and welcoming and there’s a cute old pup that walks around and greets everyone. We called him the safety supervisor.
The ceremony spot is out in the field just south west of the barn and faces directly west, giving the guests a seat view of the mountains (when it’s not threatening to storm like it did for us). After your ceremony, you can lead the guests to one of the many communal hang out spots for a cocktail hour while the rest of the wedding party and family take their group photos. It’s a perfect blend of rustic mountain western feel with the Colorado scenery to top off the relaxed vibe of the venue.
Once the group photos are done, it’s time to gather everyone in for the dinner and reception in the beautiful and historic Old Elm barn. Again, if you like classy and rustic, this venue has what you’re looking for. The barn itself is quite old, but is dripping with charm in every corner.
Overall, this is a fantastic venue for a small to medium size wedding with incredible scenery, welcoming staff and western rustic charm!
